I will always find time and strength to paint because it is my passion. Life is about finding the balance between conflicting desires. As a student of a Business School I find comfort in the solidity and constancy of numbers . As an artist, I immerse myself in the dynamism and expressionism of colors and objects on canvas. |
Artistic Statement
I believe that harmony, atmosphere, and a sense of balance in a painting are not teachable. They are found by painters through hard work, a pursuit of curiosity and the path of interest. Individuality is found through self development and a personal satisfaction of ones own achievements. In painting, it is important to have such satisfaction that provides a continual source of energy that can be reinvested in the canvas. Therefore each painting is more than just a reflection of any stage in my artistic development but is also an important link between past experience and future potential.
I learn by observational reflection and application of my ideas. I am a great admirer of the classics – we all stand on their shoulders. Among the contemporaries I admire many, such as Peter Adams, a realist with a flavour of expressive touch from California, José Vasconcellos, a Brazilian painter passionate and full of temper Yingzhao Liu, who is one of the Chinas well known realist painters and Edward Pustavoitov, a brilliant Latvian surrealist. They all gave me invaluable lessons.
Light Subject Matter and Color
I believe that painting is not about shapes and objects; it is about how light and colour interact to transform images into emotions.
I think of light as a fluid substance which can be almost sensed as a warm liquid when touched. I have tried to portray on the canvas my perception of it and how it interacts with the matter.
It feels wrong to paint something which doesn’t have a clear physical presence. The subject matter is not a secondary element as it is for the abstract painters; It is food for the mind. I like to give it an expressive nature by using a high contrast and bright colours, which is food for the soul. Most recently, I have been experimenting with the vibrant shades of green and yellow. They are the most organic colours of the palette and are a source of life and emotion.
About me
I have been painting and drawing since the age of 14. I began to exhibit my work at 17 in many galleries of the old quarter in Riga, the capital of Latvia and my home town. Originally, painting was about expressing myself in my spare time, today I see it as a continuous challenge in freedom of expression and is an enormous source of fulfilment.
In 2000 I came to Denmark, where I have been lucky to meet my husband. He is my inspiration and much much more.
In Denmark I have had two exhibitions:

FIH kunstforening (2005) | |

Høje Taastrup Medborgerhus (2001) |
